Benefits of TRT
The Role of Testosterone in the Body
Maintaining regular levels of testosterone is vital for both men and women. It is one of the key facets of sexual wellness, bone and muscle health, fat distribution, energy levels, and brain health.
Though men typically have higher levels of this chemical messenger, women also produce testosterone. For women, testosterone declines as we age when the ovaries produce less of the hormone. In men, testosterone levels lower more gradually, but this results in similar unwanted symptoms. Both men and women can experience low testosterone levels in their late 30s and early 40s.
How Testosterone Therapy Supports Lasting Wellness
Testosterone therapy can support overall wellness by addressing both physical and emotional aspects of your health, including:
- Increased endurance
- Stabilized cholesterol levels
- Increased libido and sexual function
- Improves bone density
- Increased muscle mass and decreased amounts of fat
- Sharpens mental clarity
- Reduced depression and anxiety
- Improved skin tone
Achieving the right balance of testosterone and other hormones is also essential to maintaining a healthy, fit body. A balanced lifestyle, however, including a proper diet and exercise regimen, is just as important.
Many of our clients with hormone imbalances often come to us for help with their erectile dysfunction and other libido-based issues. With testosterone therapy, you can restore optimal sexual health.
How Hormones Affect Mental Health
While hormones are crucial in maintaining a healthy body, they are also important in mental health. Not only can our testosterone therapy in Southlake give you a boost in energy and performance, but it can also improve mental clarity. Getting testosterone therapy can help you experience many positive changes in your daily life, both inside and out.
By addressing your imbalanced hormones, you can start reducing symptoms of:
- Fatigue
- Anxiety
- Sleep problems
- Anger
- Irritability
- Memory loss
- Depression
TRT for Women
Declining Testosterone Levels in Women
While estrogen and progesterone levels will drop more in midlife, for some people testosterone levels actually start declining gradually in their late thirties. By the time you are in your late forties or early fifties, you are likely producing about half of the testosterone that you were when you were in your early twenties.
In certain circumstances testosterone levels can drop suddenly. For example, a hysterectomy, especially involving ovary removal, can cause a woman’s testosterone (along with estrogen and progesterone) to plummet. Testosterone is produced by the ovaries and the adrenal gland.
Chronic stress, cortisol imbalances, and pituitary dysfunction can also cause testosterone levels to decline.
Because all hormones in the endocrine system work together synergistically, it is important to see a provider who is trained in how all the hormones in the body function and can affect each other. To achieve optimal hormonal balance, full diagnostic testing including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, DHEA, pregnenolone and other tests should be performed to see if any other conditions may be affecting your health and hormonal levels.
TRT for Men
Andropause
When most of us think of hormonal issues, we usually attribute them to women. People widely recognize that women experience menopause as they age, resulting in loss of libido, sleep issues, hot flashes, weight gain, and memory loss.
We put less emphasis on the changes that occur with men as they age, but men actually experience their own version of male menopause, called andropause. According to the National Institute of Health, “Andras” in Greek means human male, and “pause” means cessation. Andropause is a syndrome associated with a decrease in sexual satisfaction or a decline in a feeling of general well-being with low levels of testosterone in men.
While all women will experience menopause symptoms to some extent, not all men recognize andropause as it occurs, simply because they may not be aware that such a thing exists, and it occurs more gradually. It is important for men to have their hormone levels checked because symptoms for men can be more subtle. They may not realize that their symptoms can be treated easily with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.
At Dynamic Life Health Center, we offer extensive diagnostic testing specifically tailored for men. This testing helps to identify decreasing or imbalanced hormone production, along with any other underlying health issues, so we can help you feel your best and live your life to the fullest.
How it Works
Receiving Testosterone Therapy
With testosterone therapy, you can balance out your hormones and achieve better health. This can reduce sluggishness and even prevent muscle loss. We offer testosterone injectables, creams, pellets, and triturates.
Hormone Pellet Process
Hormone pellets are one of the latest innovations in hormone technology. By examining your current hormone levels, health history, and BMI in combination, your provider can create the exact dosage you need.
During your first visit, our provider will meet with you to discuss your medical history, health goals and order the appropriate serum labs and saliva cortisol testing.
We insert pellets every 3 to 4 months for women and every 5 to 6 months for men. When you come in for your treatment, your provider will numb your skin, make a small incision and insert the pellet 5mm into your skin.
Preparing for Hormone Pellets
- Wear loose clothing to allow your provider access to your skin.
- Stop all blood thinners, prescription or OTC, including aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, vitamin E and fish oils for seven days prior to insertion.
Hormone Pellet Insertion Aftercare
- Keep your bandage in place for a full 24 hours.
- Avoid heavy exercise, lifting or other forms of strenuous activity for a full 2 days for women and 7 days for men.
- To help with pain, apply a cold compress to the incision site intermittingly for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid bathing, swimming or submerging your body in water for one week after insertion.
- Avoid vigorous massage at the insertion site for seven days.
