Our Approach
Nutritional Health
To start this process, we first discuss your wellness goals and health history. We will order diagnostic testing based on your health history and concerns. These extensive diagnostic tests get to the root cause behind what is preventing you from achieving your health goals, including food sensitivity testing and/or genetic testing. We also consider:
- Individual biochemistry. Nutrition requirements vary from person to person based on genetics, metabolism, and lifestyle.
- Malabsorption. While you may eat a diverse and balanced diet, there can be other factors that prevent nutrients from being absorbed.
- Illness. Chronic health conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, cancers, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune issues, and more can affect nutrient deficiencies either directly or indirectly.
- Age. Nutrition requirements can drastically change as you age.
- Lifestyle. Overconsumption of alcohol, smoking, lack of sleep, a sedentary lifestyle, and excessive exercise can all affect nutrient absorption.
- Stress. Emotional, physical, and environmental stressors all affect nutritional needs and the absorption of nutrients from food.
- Medications. Some prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications can also impede absorption or increase the need for certain types of nutrients.
After your results come back, we create a comprehensive plan that may include a combination of dietary recommendations, supplements, and/or lifestyle changes.
What to Expect
Micronutrient Testing
According to health.gov reports regarding dietary guidelines in the United States, approximately three-fourths of the population has an eating pattern that is unhealthy. The “Standard American Diet” is rich in processed foods and low in nutrient-dense foods. Because this way of eating has become the norm for so much of our population, many people are actually malnourished. Even people who lead healthy lifestyles and eat clean can still struggle with nutrient deficiencies.
What it Tests for
The Vibrant Micronutrient test measures nutritional status at a cellular level, not just the blood levels of nutrients. It offers a comprehensive and accurate assessment of your micronutrient levels.
Since each individual person is different, this can offer specific insight into your health, and then your provider can work with you to devise a plan to make sure you are properly nourished so your mind and body can achieve optimal function.
The Vibrant Micronutrient tests for 40 different nutritional markers, including:
- Amino acids
- Antioxidants
- Co-factors
- Essential fatty acids
- Immune response
- Minerals
- Vitamins
At DLHC, you can trust that our treatment plan in Southlake focuses on understanding you and how best to treat you.
Other serum blood tests may only look at the concentration of nutrients outside of the cells, but the Vibrant Micronutrient test shows levels within the cell structure where the essential metabolic function occurs. It is an excellent indicator of overall health.
