Judith K. Berutti
October 8, 1938 – May 15, 2020
Judith “Dolly” Berutti was called to her eternal heavenly home on May 15, 2020. Dolly was born in Benld, Illinois on October 8, 1938 and lived there throughout her childhood and young adult years. It was there she met the love of her life Richard Berutti where they became high school sweethearts before marrying on November 22, 1959. They shared almost 52 years of marriage before Richard passed away in October 2011. Dolly and Rich raised two beautiful, successful daughters Laura and Lyn, and cherished their three grandsons Kyle Swearingen, Kevin Swearingen and Konner Carr, and great granddaughter Kynlee Swearingen.
During Dolly’s youth, she was a cheerleader and the editor of the high school paper. Later on she became a cosmetologist and enjoyed gardening along with volunteering at the women’s shelter. Throughout her life she loved scrapbooking, cooking, entertaining, spending time with family (especially the grandchildren), and traveling throughout the world. She also loved being a stay-at-home Mom and did a great job managing the household and home finances….she ran a tight ship and was always on top of things.
After bouncing around various locations across the US where Rich’s job took them, Dolly and her family settled in Arlington in the mid 70’s. It was there that they put down roots and quickly became very close friends with all of their neighbors. She could keep everyone in stitches telling stories about some of their parties and other shenanigans. It was this group that became lifetime friends who have stayed in touch with Dolly over the years and she treasured their friendship.
Despite being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her early 30’s, Dolly always kept a positive outlook on life and was a positive influence on everyone she came in contact with. She always did what she could to make the best out of the hand she was dealt. One word that always comes up when people are describing Dolly is “classy”. She took great pride in herself and her family, and was one of the most caring persons you could ever meet.
Dolly was preceded in death by her husband Richard, and is survived by her daughters Laura Swearingen and husband Kenn Swearingen of Arlington, and Lyn Berutti of Grapevine; Grandsons Kyle Swearingen and wife Kelsey Swearingen, Kevin Swearingen, and Konner Carr; and great granddaughter Kynlee Swearingen.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your consideration of a donation in Judith Berutti’s name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.moore-funeralhome.com for the Berutti family.
Judith personally requested that all who loved her to reflect on the following words:
To Those I Love,
When I am gone, just release me, let me go – so I can move into my afterglow. You mustn’t tie me down with your tears; let’s be happy that we had so may years. I gave you my love, you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it’s time I traveled on alone. So grieve for me awhile, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted with trust. It’s only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. And then when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and a “Welcome Home.”
